Gaussian Approximations of Objects Bounded by Algebraic Curves

چکیده
We present a discrete approximation method for planar algebraic curves. This discrete approximation is hierarchical, curvature dependent, and provides eecient algorithms for various primitive geometric operations on algebraic curves. We consider applications on the curve intersections , the distance computations, and the common tangent and convolution computations. We implemented these approximation algorithms on Symbolics 3650 Lisp Machine using Common Lisp.

Piecewise Approximations of Real Algebraic Surfaces
We use a combination of both symbolic and numerical techniques to construct several degree bounded G 0 and G 1 continuous, piecewise approximations of real algebraic surfaces. These approximations are based upon an adaptive triangulation (a G 0 planar approximation) of the real components of the algebraic surface, and includes both singular points and singular curves on the surface. The approxi...
متن کاملOn the Convex Hulls of Parametric Plane Curves
Linear-time convex hull algorithms are known to exist for polygons and planar objects bounded by piecewise algebraic curves. Most of the existing algorithms laboriously trace out the so-called “pockets” formed by the concave portions of an object’s boundary. Objects bounded by general parametric curves have been excluded from the previous study partly because the nature of computation is seemin...
متن کاملArithmetic Teichmuller Theory
By Grothedieck's Anabelian conjectures, Galois representations landing in outer automorphism group of the algebraic fundamental group which are associated to hyperbolic smooth curves defined over number fields encode all arithmetic information of these curves. The goal of this paper is to develope and arithmetic teichmuller theory, by which we mean, introducing arithmetic objects summarizing th...
متن کاملSpline Approximations of Real Algebraic Surfaces
We use a combination of both symbolic and numerical techniques to construct several degree bounded G0 and G1 continuous, piecewise spline approximations of real implicit algebraic surfaces for both computer graphics and geometric modeling. These approximations are based upon an adaptive triangulation (a G0 planar approximation) of the real components of the algebraic surface, and include both s...
متن کاملMotion Identification of Planar Free-form Objects
It has been shown recently that rigid or affine dynamics of curves defined by algebraic equations can be represented in terms of Riccati dynamics of possibly complex lines. In this work, we develop new Riccati equations in real variables for closed-bounded curves and new recursions on multiplicative scalars in the decomposition of the curve. A parameter identification scheme has also been propo...
